~Our Ornament Tree~ So Simple and Inexpensive to Make

Share

Time to change up the mantel from ‘Our Thankful Tree’ to ‘Our Ornament Tree’!

I loved looking at our thankful tree on the mantle. However, we have a small home, also a toddler, so finding elevated decoration spots are challenging these days. I was seriously sad taking down our thankful tree but it was time to get with the current holiday.

You can see how to make your very own Thankful Tree here:

As I was unpacking Christmas I kept setting aside, ‘the toddler will destroy this’ ornaments and wondering what to do with them. My solution, the ornament tree. This little ornament tree is a great place to display all of those special or fragile pieces and super simple to make.

Items needed to construct your very own ornament tree:

You only need 3 items to put together your tree!

1. Container or vase – I picked one up for $1 at the dollar store.

2. Floral foam – I picked up round forms from the dollar store.

3. Branches – I had lighted branches on hand that I used.

How to construct your ornament tree:

First, Choose your container.

My Container

You could use a vase or tall jar as well. If the item you choose is clear and you want to hide the branches just use sand, rocks, felt, material, or colored paper to conceal your branches.

Next, put your floral foam in your container.

I used two of these

I used round forms like the photo above but you could use any type of form that would securely hold the branches.

You may need to cut your foam to fit. I got really lucky with this project ant it was like the foam was made for the container. I put one in right side up and the other on top upside down to make them fit just right and create the height I wanted.

The foam fit just RIGHT

Then, I added my branches to the container making sure they were secured well into the foam.

Note: Because the tree branches I chose for this project were lighted with long tangly wires I first wrapped them and secured them with electrical tape.

My Branches

Another fun idea would be to find sticks like we did for our Thankful Tree, https://www.lovensthelife.com/our-thankful-tree-super-easy-and-under-5/

If you hunt your own branches you will probably want to trim them to your liking before adding them to your container.

I didn’t like the way it looked with the branches so straight so I bent and moved them before hanging the ornaments.

This is how it looked before I bent the branches to my liking

Finally, hang your ornaments on your new tree and enjoy!

Now how easy was that and all for just a few dollars!!

Your turn to create

I would love to hear if you gain inspiration from this post and make your very own Ornament Tree!
