This DIY Fall Wreath with Dollar Tree items was simple and inexpensive to make. All you need in addition to the craft supplies is a glue gun and a little time to put it together.
I needed a wreath to hang in the window above the fireplace as the Autumn Wreath I did last year found it’s home on the front door this year.
The saying on this decor round from the Dollar Tree really spoke to me. Simplicity has been a goal of mine for years. Still chasing it. Also gratefulness doesn’t come naturally but my days are better when I can put it in the forefront. The daily reminder hanging above my mantle seemed fitting. It turned out way different than I initially planned. However, that is the beauty of creating, some pieces take on a direction of their own as you create them. This one did just that but I like where it went.
You can view a short YouTube Slideshow that quickly shows the process here on my Lovensthelife Channel.

Instructions
The Wreath Form
First, the very inner ring of the wreath form had to be cut out as it covered to much of the sign. I used wire cutters for this but my wire cutters are in need of a good sharpening or possibly just a replacing. It made a mess of things so my husband sanded the jagged messy edges with his grinder. Thanks Hubby!
Then I wrapped it in ribbon to hide the form. I ended up adding enough foliage I probably could have skipped this step.

Finally, I glued the ribbon covered form to the sign with my hot glue gun.

Adding the Leaves
This step is hard to instruct as you really just place and glue as you desire. I will do my best to explain it though.

First I cut the leaves all apart so I was only working with one at a time. If you are pressed for time you could skip this step and do bunches at a time as well.

Then I placed the leaves as I liked them and then used a dab of glue to hold them into place. I did this all the way around the wreath.
Finishing Touches
Finally add any extra trimmings you would like.
I removed the little bow on the sign as I felt it was to large and distracted from the picture. I intended to put something else in it’s place but It came off without ripping the sign and I liked it without anything there.
To break up the leaves a little I created a little messy bow for the bottom. I can’t make a pretty bow to save my life so these are my go-to replacements. These are so easy. Cut ribbon all in the same length or varying if you prefer. Layer cut pieces together and secure in the middle with twine. Once I had my messy bow created I glued it to the bottom of the wreath.

Finally I added twine to hang it. I chose to have the knotted portion on the front for a little extra trimmings but you could do this anyway you wish. You could cover the holes with leaves and put a picture hanger on the back even.

The Completed Project

It turned out so cheerful.

I think it works pretty well with the Harvest Decor piece I made last week. My mantle is starting to look a lot like FALL!
